The beginner's trek is a 1-hour ride commencing with basic instruction on the yard, followed by a relaxing, scenic trek through woodland and over moorland. This gives you the opportunity to see Rothiemurchus at its best, all from the back of our surefooted and kind natured Highland ponies.

However if you prefer, we can offer beginners a lesson in our sand arena, learning the basics of control through; steering, stopping and starting. This will take place in a confined space, before setting out to explore the Estate, putting your newly learned skills into practice.

This is a fantastic way to start Highland horseback riding in the most spectacular surroundings.
