Rothiemurchus venison is continuing to win fans, this time it’s the renowned food critic for the Sunday Herald, Joanna Blythman.
In a recent review of The Cross Restaurant in Kingussie, renowned food critic for the Sunday Herald, Joanna Blythman gave Rothiemurchus venison a very special mention. She wrote:
‘The word tender doesn’t do it justice. The loin of Roe deer from Rothiemurchus estate had all the flavour you get from a beast that forages in woods and glens’
At Rothiemurchus we are passionate about delicious food and we think you can ‘taste’ the care that is put into each stage of bringing food from the forest or hill to the plate. Peter Ferguson, our Head Stalker, ensures that our deer live a peaceful, healthy life grazing the sweet grasses of our forests and hills, unaware that there is human activity close by. Over the last 20 years Rothiemurchus has gained a reputation as the finest venison and was chosen by Rick Stein and the BBC when they celebrated Food Heroes. We’ve always known we had something really special with our succulent, tender, fresh wild venison but now others are spreading the word too.
